Importance of Good Nutrition

Nutrition is a vital part of health and development.  Good nutrition is related to better infant, child and maternal health, safer pregnancy, lower risk of diseases (such as diabetes, heart disease, depression etc.), stronger immunity, and longevity.

We all know the saying ‘You are what you eat’. This is based on the notion that to be healthy and fit, you need to eat good, nutritious food. We all agree this to be true. The macro and micronutrients we eat becomes the structure, function, and wellness of every cell in our body. Our body is constantly repairing, rebuilding and healing our body. These are our external parts like skin, hair, nails; to our interior parts like muscles, bones, organs, digestive and immune systems. Every cell has it’s own life cycle, from a day or two, to a few months. How we replace old cells with healthy new cells is directly determined that what we’re eating.

Too much processed fast food and junk food gives us empty calories, and not much nutrients for our body to work with. A clean, nutrient dense, whole food diet (for the most part), helps us build cells that work optimally and less susceptible to disease, malfunction, and aging.

You are what you eat. Let’s prioritize becoming a healthier version of ourselves.
